According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), consumers lost nearly $8.8 billion to scams in 2022, with over half of these scams initiated through calls. This application creates an on-device database of the most recent spam callers reported to the FTC, supplemented with data from reputable third parties. The app automatically updates this database daily in the background without any action required from the user; simply enable the app in your phone's Settings for seamless operation.
What does it mean when a spam number is added by the app to your phone? The spam caller is promptly blocked without any missed call or notification reaching you, and no trace appears in your call logs. As the app continues to run on your device, the spam database grows larger. In the latest update, daily database updates now include detailed analysis of millions of recent spam calls, targeting the most prevalent area codes associated with spam calling.
Concerned about the need for a secondary number to handle spam calls? We advise against utilizing potentially insecure third-party VOIP services. Spam Caller ID protects your voicemail securely on your device, ensuring that important calls from various sources like healthcare providers or local businesses are not missed or redirected elsewhere.
Does Spam Caller ID eliminate all spam calls? It successfully blocks 100% of reported spammers documented by the FTC. Any calls that manage to bypass our system and reach your call history can be reported by sending a screenshot directly through the app, allowing you to selectively flag unwanted calls for follow-up action.
For setup instructions: following installation, navigate to Settings -> Phone -> Call Blocking & Identification from your home screen and enable all options labeled "Spam Caller ID." Additionally, ensure "Background App Refresh" is enabled for continuous updates.
